The Research Team
Rubric-Based Instruction was developed through a sustained program of empirical research in classroom assessment, grounded in meta-analytic synthesis and qualitative design analysis.
The researchers
Assistant Professor — Mississippi State University
Andy Parra-Martínez is an educational psychologist whose work examines the intersection of artificial intelligence and educational psychology. His current research includes AI and classroom assessment through rubric-based instruction, wisdom development through the polyhedron model, talent identification and development, and teacher preparation. He created Rubricator and co-developed the RBI framework.
Visiting Assistant Professor — University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Sandra Camargo-Salamanca studies classroom assessment, rubric design, and validity. She is lead author of the meta-analysis examining the effects of rubric use on learning, self-regulation, and self-efficacy. Her current work develops and validates alignment strategies for using rubrics across diverse learning environments.
